Hi Friends! Recently I saw online that Angelina Ballerina (the current production) has been cancelled for the remainder of the season. It broke my heart a little to hear the news.
But so many of you have lost jobs to this unfortunate pandemic and while we all know this is for the greater good, you have every right to feel that loss and to feel disappointed and angry that the work you’ve put in or were excited to put in, will not be seen or experienced.
Do not think you are alone in this. I can tell you that the majority of the shows I worked on casting over the last few months of busy audition season are not happening. What a complete and total heartbreak. Not to mention, the extreme disappointment in the realization that the past few months have been an effort in futility.
With no end in sight to this quarantine and the scary realization that even when we are released, a return to live events and gatherings will be slow to come, it’s easy to succumb to a kind of pointlessness and lethargy. And, maybe you need to do that for a little while to soak it all in. But, you weren’t pointless before that job offer or all of those auditions you went on. You weren’t pointless before you even decided you wanted to be a part of this industry. You were always a fully realized human with depth and many layers.
So, my question to you - what are those other layers? Are there pieces of who you are that are vital to the world and your own psyche that you simply forgot about? Maybe you’ll surprise yourself when you rediscover that “other side” of who you are.
I’m working on it for myself… I’ll let you know what I find out.
Our industry will be back and I believe it will come back stronger than ever, but this might take some real time. Time for us all to go a bit inward and bring out all of those colors we forgot we had inside.
Sending you all love to heal and remember, Holly:)
