Please note that all AEA contracted actors must have their own local housing within a 60 mile radius of the performance space in Denver to be contracted. ABOUT D.I.R.T.
Denver Immersive Repertory Theater (D.I.R.T.) is the world’s first resident immersive theater venue, currently under construction at 15th and Blake streets in LoDo. Comprising cutting-edge performance and world-class hospitality under the same roof, D.I.R.T. aims to set a new standard for theatrical experiences in Denver. Cofounded by Tony-nominated producer Blair Russell and NYC theater director, playwright, and producer Steve Wargo.

ABOUT THE SHOW
"Midnight's Dream" is an open world immersive theatrical experience where audiences journey through multiple environments in both the mortal world and a mysterious Otherworld. The show features two complete 16-scene loops per performance, with possible variations depending on audience choices and character interactions.

FULL COMPENSATION & CONTRACT DETAILS

•   AEA: LOA-LORT; 12-month contract; $900/week, plus Health and Pension

•   Non-Equity: 12-month contract; $25/hour for rehearsals; $100 per performance commencing with First Preview

•   NOTE: This contract includes approved provisions for non-consecutive workweeks. Due to the extended tech schedule, all roles will have various weeks off throughout the process. Cast members with a week off will not receive salary/wages for that workweek, but AEA members will continue to accrue Health Plan weeks.

SEEKING:

 

THE FAE

OBERON: (Male, 30s-40s) The commanding Faerie King. Requires strong physical presence and gravitas, while hiding underlying doubt and vulnerability. Must move well and handle both dramatic confrontations and intimate moments. Fight choreography (grappling) experience a plus.

TITANIA: (Female, 30s-40s) The powerful Faerie Queen. Equal parts regal and wild. Should convey both maternal instincts and dangerous passions. Movement/dance experience required.

PUCK: (Male/nonbinary, 20s-30s) A shapeshifting trickster faerie. Extremely physical role requiring climbing and potential tumbling. Must have excellent comic timing and be able to switch between playful and menacing. Dance/movement background essential.

CALLOOSTIA: (Female, 30s-60s) A wise but eccentric spellstress. Quick wit required. Must handle complex dialogue and maintain multiple engaging one-on-one interactions with audience members. Role requires brief grappling stage combat and a choreographed fall. This track will also understudy THE HERMIT.

QUEEN MAB: (Female, 30s-50s) A former faerie queen turned dream merchant. Should possess both elegance and earthiness. Strong improvisation skills needed for extended audience interactions.

LADY NICNEVEN: (Female, 30s-50s) A vengeful witch seeking restoration of her youth and power. Strong physical acting skills a must. Fight choreography (grappling) skills a plus.

GOBLIN MERCHANT: (Male, 30s-50s) A seductive and sinister purveyor of enchanted fruits. Must have commanding presence and classical language experience for extended monologues. Should be able to maintain an atmosphere of both allure and menace.Physical theater/movement background a plus.

THE FAERIES: PEASEBLOSSOM, MUSTARDSEED, MOTH, AND COBWEB (All genders, 20s-30s) Ensemble roles requiring strong movement/dance abilities. Must work well as a unit while maintaining distinct personalities. These roles will understudy Principal tracks as noted:

Mustardseed: Oberon; Goblin Merchant; Xander

Moth: Puck; Nicky; Tricksy Jack

Peaseblossom: Titania; Lizzie; Lady N

Cobweb: Laura; Calloostia; Queen Mab

  

THE MORTALS

LIZZIE & LAURA: (Female, 20s) Two close friends caught in supernatural events. Strong chemistry needed. Laura requires dramatic arc from innocence to wild obsession. Lizzie mustconvey determination, grit, and sacrifice.

XANDER & NICKY: (Male, 20s) Two friends who become separated in the Otherworld. Nicky transforms into a donkey-man, requiring physical comedy skills. Xander needs strong dramatic presence for confrontations with supernatural beings.

THE HERMIT: (All genders, 50s-70s) A mysterious storyteller. Must handle extended monologues and maintain engaging one-on-one interactions with audience members.

SWINGS: (All Genders, 20s+) offstage SWINGS who will cover MUSTARDSEED and MOTH, and PEASEBLOSSOM and COBWEB, respectively.  These positions will perform nightly in a pre-show scene and will also entail full-time front-of-house/hospitality work throughout the run.

 

SPECIAL NOTES ON IMPROVISATION

This immersive production requires potential improvisation

within established character frameworks. Actors must:

• Maintain consistent character while interacting with 1-20 audience members at a time

• Navigate multiple possible story paths depending on audience choices

• Handle both scripted scenes and completely improvised moments

• Work collaboratively with other performers to maintain show flow

• Stay in character while guiding audiences through the experience

 

CASTING/PRODUCTION NOTES

-     No roles have been precast

-     In-person auditions will not be recorded; all taped submissions will be deleted after review

-     Performances will not be streamed or recorded

-     Understudies and swings will begin rehearsals with the director and choreographer on/about March 24, 2026; put-in rehearsals will be scheduled as needed throughout the run

-     Understudies will be costumed for all covered roles

-     Understudies may take over principal roles in the event another actor leaves the production

-     Swings will begin front-of-house training and pre-show rehearsals on/about January 27, 2026

-     All rehearsals will be in Denver, Tuesdays-Sundays, 11a-5pm
