Housing is provided on property in Bellport, NY. Transportation provided at top of rehearsal and at the end of the run-- all rehearsals and performances take place at the Gateway Playhouse on Long Island in Bellport, NY.
Storyline: Set against the glittering backdrop of early 20th‑century show business, Funny Girltracks Fanny Brice’s climb from awkward chorus hopeful to bona fide star, powered by sheer will, unconventional beauty, and a voice that stops the room. Along the way, her passionate, complicated relationship with charming gambler Nick Arnstein forces her to choose between the fantasy of romance and the reality of who she’s becoming. With its sweeping score, sharp comedy, and a central character who is as vulnerable as she is hilarious, Funny Girl is an intimate, character-led musical about reinvention, resilience, and the cost of brilliance in a world that can’t quite keep up. It’s a winter “reset” story: a reminder that you can start over, stand taller, and claim the life that truly fits you.

Fanny Brice: (20s–30s, Woman) A talented, ambitious vaudeville performer who rises to become a star of the Ziegfeld Follies. Funny, unconventional, confident, and deeply romantic. Mezzo-Soprano with strong, exciting belt/mix.
Nick Arnstein: (30s–40s, Man) A dashing, charming, sophisticated gambler whose financial troubles and pride complicate his relationship with Fanny. The love of her life. Warm, full Baritone.
Mrs. Brice: (40s–60s, Woman) Fanny’s sharp-tongued, fiercely protective Brooklyn/Jewish mother. Practical, dry, and deeply loving beneath her blunt humor. Supporting Mezzo-Soprano.
Mrs. Strakosh: (40s–60s, Woman) A pessimistic, outspoken Jewish mother and one of Mrs. Brice’s close friends. Shrill, opinionated, and funny. Supporting Mezzo-Soprano.
Mrs. Meeker: (40s–60s, Woman) Mrs. Brice’s neighbor and friend. A warm, familiar presence in her circle with a comic perspective. Supporting Mezzo-Soprano.
Mrs. O’Malley: (40s–60s, Woman) One of Mrs. Brice’s close friends and the Irish member of the group. Lively, opinionated, and distinctly Irish. Supporting Mezzo-Soprano.
Eddie Ryan: (20s–30s, Man) A talented vaudeville song-and-dance man and Fanny’s closest friend, who secretly loves her. Devoted, funny, and energetic. Strong Baritone and dancer; must tap.
Mr. Renaldi: (30s+, Man) An urbane, well-connected theatrical agent with experience navigating the entertainment world. Ensemble Singing.
Ziegfeld Tenor: (18+, Man) A featured performer in the Ziegfeld Follies who sings “The Most Beautiful Bride in the World.” High, polished Tenor.
Florenz Ziegfeld: (40s–60s, Man) The famed Broadway producer and creator of the Ziegfeld Follies. Powerful, sophisticated, and influential in Fanny’s career. Ensemble Singing.
Tom Keeney: (40s–60s, Man) A tough, seasoned vaudeville producer who gives Fanny one of her first major opportunities. Ensemble Singing.
Emma: (20s–40s, Woman) Fanny’s dresser and confidante. Quiet and meek on the surface, but loyal, perceptive, and stronger than she appears. Ensemble Singing.
Ensemble: (18+, All Gender Identities) Vaudeville performers, Follies dancers, theatergoers, and other characters throughout the show. Strong triple threats. All vocal ranges.
